With the expertise of 90 scientists and the combined know-how of our more than 40 industrial and academic partners, we demonstrate the various possible uses of plastics in the most diverse areas of application – for sustainable future technologies!

The Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH (PCCL) is the leading Austrian centre for cooperative research in the field of plastics engineering and polymer sciences. Together with company and scientific partners
(including Montanuniversität Leoben and the Technical University of Graz), around 90 highly-qualified scientists work on R&D projects for innovative plastics solutions in a broad range of applications (from automotive, flight and packaging to solar and photovoltaic applications).

As a non-competitive, industrial research company, PCCL contributes to the continuous development and implementation of scientific knowledge in plastics engineering, polymer science and related fields. On a basis of medium-term cooperations the PCCL works closely with well-known Austrian companies (including AT&S, Andritz Hydro, FACC, MAGNA, Semperit and Isovoltaic), as well as with “global players” such as CONTI, DOW and Oerlikon Balzer.

As a so-called K1 centre, the PCCL is part of the COMET program of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG, and is funded by the Austrian Government and by the State Governments of Styria and Upper Austria, making a budget of €20 million available for research until 2013. Goals of the PCCL are to increase the transfer of knowledge to industry through projects with academic and industry partners, to continually develop and increase research expertise in the center and to increase the competitiveness of its partners.
