Geschichte

Sonnleitn is a small village of typical Carinthian wooden houses, situated approx. 9 km from Hermagor, very close to the Italian Border, just over the Nassfeld Pass (Passo Pramollo-Pontebba). Cars circulation is forbidden in the village: you have to leave your car in the parking space nearby the Reception at the entrance of the Village...and forget about it!
Each house has 4-5 apartments. Ours is a 3-room apartment, suitable for 6 pax (approx. 55m²). The living room / dining room is furnished with an old majolica stove and 2 single sofa beds. There is one double room (queen size bed) and one room with two single beds, kitchen suite, the bathroom (with shower and two basins) is separate from the WC. Moreover, you can have a nice nap or even a rich snack in the sunny balcony!

Nassfeld, a little jewel in the sunny province of Carinthia, besides being one of Austria's largest & most modern ski resorts, is also a destination in great demand during the summer season.
Just few hints to excite your curiosity...

On land activities:
mountain biking (800 km of m-b trails), walking (1000 km of marked walking paths), climbing, golf (in Kirchbach- 22km far from here), tennis.
The Millennium Express Ski Lift in Tropolach (a small village few km far from Sonnleitn, towards Hermagor) is Europe's longest goldola and is open for the Summer Season from mid June until mid September (depends on the weather). In about 20 min. It takes you to the top station (at an altitude of 2000 mt) from where you can enjoy lots of activities for all the family in the breathtaking surroundings of the Carnic Alps (both Austrian and Italian).
Water activities:
WEISSENSEE & PRESSEGGER SEE are an ideal place for everyone, with almost drinking waters!
-Weissensee is 43 km from Sonnleitn (50 min. Journey) There is swimming, boat trips, surfing, diving, canoeing, fishing, water skiing, wake boarding and parachuting, rafting & sailing. The Lake is totally unspoilt and the temperature of the water is on average 24°C. -Presseggersee is only 25 km from Sonnleitn (Half an hour journey). It is an unspoilt lake, too, nicknamed “The bathtub of the Gaital Valley”. In summer, the water can reach up to 28°C. There is a lovely bathing area, where you can spend a perfect day in the sun, hire sun loungers, have a snack, play minigolf or tennis, let your children enjoy a beautifull playground or hire a boat for a trip along the lake!
The little village of BLEIBERG, only 50 km away from Sonnleitn (1 hour journey), is well known for its Thermae and the Terra Mystica. The water coming from the mountain has healing powers in Bad Bleiberg: in the healing climate tunnels "Friedrich" and "Thomas", teraphy grottos, mainly chronic respiratory illnesses are treated in a constant microclimate. You also must pay a visit to Terra Mystica and explore 700 years of mining history: a 68m long slide which was used by the miners to change levels very fast. It is said to be the longest in Europe.
